Fastar, Inc. was incorporated by Doug
Thonus in the spring of 1998. Fastar's management team has over 50 years
of fastener experience and a thorough understanding of fastener
manufacturing, applications, marketing, distribution, and service,
dating back to the 1960's.
Doug currently serves on
the B18 Subcommittee 8 - The Fastener Standards Committee of the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is also a senior member of
the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Business Concept
Thonus says their business concept is simple. They have four
objectives:
-
To reduce delivery time and excess quantity
purchases of fasteners,
i.e., high minimums or
quantities.
-
To create a means for suppliers/manufacturers to
reduce low volume, high transaction cost business.
-
To have specific high quality products available to
customers.
-
To employ knowledgeable and dedicated personnel who
can provide exceptional customer satisfaction.
"Satisfying one or all of these goals, we will be
doing our part in reducing supply chain costs," says Thonus.
"By partnering with manufacturers that adopt this supply chain
strategy, we reduce lead times and excess inventories for distributors.
This translates into an effective cost reduction method for manufactures
- allowing them to reduce transactions and operate more
effectively."
Fastar's position as a Master Distributor has placed
them in a position to have a competitive price program that supports the
fastener distributor's requirements. "Our goal is to be America's
premier master distributor of the products we sell," states Thonus.

Uniting their business concept and fastener background has provided
the foundation for Fastar's current product lines. Fastar currently

spring pins, Coiled spring pins, Cotter pins, Dowel pins, Solid pins,
